Introduction

Text paraphrasing, also known as rewriting, is another useful feature of modern neural networks. It can be helpful for writing coursework, preparing a report, creating blog articles, and many other situations. Modern chatbots, such as Alice or Gigachat, offer this functionality. In this article, we will compare one of them with specialized alternatives.

1. Neuralwriter

This is a great example of how a specialized neural network should work. As of the time of writing, the service is free and can be used online without registration, which we will test. The AI understands Russian and many other languages and is available at neuralwriter.com.

To use it, simply paste your text and select a light modification level. The level affects both processing speed and output quality. All levels are free, but "medium" and "hard" require an installed extension. The limit per text is 10,000 characters. The result was quite good, and the meaning remained intact.

Pros: Works well in Russian and other languages without losing meaning, free to use, extensive functionality
Cons: Some modes require an extension installation

2. Rephraser.co

Another relevant service with a slightly different approach. It is available at rephraser.co/ru/synonymizerx. In addition to paraphrasing, it offers other useful features, though they may not always work well in Russian.

We used the same text, chose the creative mode, and received a decent result. However, some meaning was slightly lost, and the processing took longer—though still relatively fast. The free version of Rephraser allows up to 250 words, making it suitable for short articles.

Pros: Significant text modifications, free version available
Cons: Some functions don’t work well in Russian, free version limitations, occasional loss of meaning

3. Gigachat

Competing with specialized services is the free chatbot Gigachat, which is excellent at processing Russian text. We’re unsure about other languages, but since it's completely free and unrestricted, you can always give it a try.

Before testing, we asked Gigachat whether it could paraphrase text, and it confirmed that it could. We then submitted our sample article and received a decent result in just a few seconds. This suggests that a chatbot can also be a solid option for paraphrasing.

Pros: Free with no usage limits, good results without loss of meaning
Cons: Difficult to modify a specific part of the text if the result isn't satisfactory
